AUGUST SHOW
What a hot, hot day, but the show went on. Hats off to the riders, particularly in the afternoon, and their wonderful horses, that rode in that heat.
Our judge, Burgi Rommi, kept smiling all day and thanks to our scorers, Barb McClintock and Heather Crampton, who kindly gave the club their time and spent one half day each to do this very important job.
Thanks to Dick Niemens who was our show chair, who helped organize the show, set up, stayed the whole day to ensure it ran smoothly and then was there for the take down.
Thanks to all the volunteers who helped at this show and a big thank you to Gillian Davies, who after riding in the heat of the afternoon, came back to help with take down. Of the 6 volunteers lined up she was the one who showed up.
And finally thanks to Dianne Moore who was able to help Dick in dealing with the entries and organizing the show prior to show day. Dianne has now had her back surgery this week and we at LIEC wish her a speedy recovery. Dianne has worked tirelessly for this club.

The entires are now open for the last show of the 2010 season. The show will be at Lochside Lane on the 19th of September.

IT'S A BUSY SUMMER!
Congratulations to LIEC members Catriona Gordon-Poag and Amy Wellburn who participated in the BC Summer Games in the Dressage Division for Zone 6. Tthe Equestrian Team from our zone captured the Team Silver Medal. Amy and Phantom brought home 2 individual medals - a Bronze for First Level Test 4 and the Gold Medal for First Level Freestyle - well done Amy - extra treats for Phantom!

Lorraine Bardua was also competing on the mainland over the weekend at The Canadian National Andalusian Show where she earned 2 National Championships - Training Level on Jen Stefik's Santajivia and Second Level on Garbosa. Lorraine and Garbosa also captured the Dressage High Point award.

Meanwhile, back at Lochside Lane, which is starting to feel very much like home, we had a very enjoyable relaxed show with lots of support for the riders from family and friends. Thank you Penny Kemshaw for your great feedback given in such a friendly supportive fashion. Thank you to all the riders who showed up on time and did their volunteer duties - it was a great day. Linda Edgell (scribe) and Linda Long (whipper in) were there to help us out even though they did not compete and Ann Bater (scribe) was very helpful to our scribe in training, Shila Agar. Our President Ruth put in many hours overseeing set-up, helping at the show after her ride and supervising the clean up. It's fun to be part of the show scene when everyone is so helpful and friendly. Please be reminded that entries for the August Percentage Day/Clinic close on August 5th. Dick Nimmons is the Volunteer Coordinator for this show so please return his phone calls and emails promptly to make his job a pleasant one.
