"Committed to providing an educational & fun sporting environment to all participants"

Without volunteers we would not be able to function for the benefit of all involved. Any offer of help is appreciated – big or small.

2016 Fall news

A HUGE thank you to all of you members and volunteers out there for making the 2016 show season go off without a hitch. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Awards/Christmas Banquet. Please check back later for details.

Equine Canada Rule Change that might interest some members. Firocoxib (Previcox) is now a permitted drug as of this year - 2016. For a full list of the permissible drugs and the allowed concentrations, please refer to article A1003 is Section A at the following link:

As long as the dose is one 57 mg Previcox® tablet given once a day, the horse should not exceed the allowed concentrations.

Housekeeping for 2016 Show Season
A few house keeping issues before the 2016 show season kicks off. Percentage Day ride times will only be available on the website we will no longer be emailing them out. They will be available as early as 3 days prior to the show, but can change as scratches occur up to 2 days before the show so be sure to check back until the show date.

Our entry form now has 2 pages...the second page is for volunteer duties. We have edited our rules so if you miss a volunteer duty for the show you have entered you will have to make one up before being able to enter the next show.

All of the LIEC shows will be held at the Fairgrounds for 2016 (except the May 1st show it will be held at Westside Stables) and we ask that everyone use Gate 6 (Livestock) only. For safety reasons no one is to park behind the cow barn or by the stalls. Please park in designated areas and behind the indoor arena. If you require a stall the day of the show please see the show office.

We are now offering Western Dressage at all of our percentage day shows. Please see the link below - Understanding Western Dressage if you have any questions or would like to know more about it. For 2016 LIEC will be using the American tests. Here is the link: will also continue to use the EC tests - the link to tests is under the tab contacts, then "other links."

NEW!!! Vancouver Island Dressage Series

Introducing the Equinety Vancouver Island Dressage Series
LH Equestrian Management is excited to announce the new Equinety Vancouver Island Dressage Series (VIDS)!

The Series is a year-end awards program created to encourage attendance at local dressage shows in order to support local clubs and volunteers. As well, the Series provides Island riders at all levels with attainable goals that will hold distinction in the Island sport community without having the requirement and high expense of leaving the Island.

All that is required from the riders is that they attend three shows across the Island with two of the shows located in different regions (north Island, mid Island and south Island). Eligible shows are Horse Council BC recognised shows and Equine Canada bronze and gold shows. All of the details are listed on LHEM's website There will be great prizes!

Thank you to our title sponsor Equinety Horse Products, the world's #1 horse supplement and the preferred horse supplement of Equine Canada!

Please help spread the word about this new and exciting opportunity to support dressage on Vancouver Island by forwarding this newsletter to a friend or sharing it on Facebook!
